Everyone wants to be rich-It’s the American Dream. Some, in addition to being rich, also desire to be famous. I’m not exactly sure why. Perhaps it has something to do with the public wanting access to you-that need to be needed. Perhaps it’s the surface rewards of fame and being the topic of discussion. Perhaps it’s our own insecurities and the fact that many of us aren’t happy being just who we are. Me? I’ve always desired wealth. Growing up in a poor, strict Jamaican Household will make any man or woman appreciate the wealth that has evaded you in life-but I’ve never felt the urge to be famous. I always told myself that if one of my talents propelled me into the surreal world of Superstardom, I’d continue to carry myself with dignity and humility. I would not embarrass my self, my family, or my race. Apparently that mindset is all but lost on today’s celebrities, because there is much that I do not understand about them…
O.J. SIMPSON- also known as the “Juice” was once a Football legend, actor, and spokesman. Today O.J. is a convicted felon. We all know O.J’s story; in 1995 he was acquitted of the murder of Nicole Simpson and her “friend” Ron Goldman. He was found “not guilty” of the murders, but somehow found guilty in Civil Court-saying that he had to pay at least $33.5 million to the families of his EX-wife and her “friend” Ron Goldman! Now, the average person… woulda moved faaaar away and stayed off the radar after dodging such a close call…but not O.J. (laughs) In 2006, this idiot writes a book called “If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer.” And finally in TRUE dickhead form, O.J. Simpson was arrested again in September 2007 in Las Vegas for robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary with a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, coercion, conspiracy to commit robbery, kidnapping, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Apparently, when O.J. was first imprisoned in 1995, many of his sports memorabilia (footballs, trophies, jerseys) was taken from his residence and some dude was auctioning O.J’s stuff for profit. Now O.J. could’ve played it smart and gone through the legal system…But instead, he enters a hotel room in Vegas with his goons and took the sports memorabilia at gunpoint. I can honestly understand where he’s coming from; O.J. was simply taking his own shit back…but when you’re a celeb, that narrowly escaped amurder rap…this was a fuck up of EPIC proportions! The end result? Found Guilty and spending at least 9 years in prison-of a 33 year sentence. What a fucking idiot!!!

I’d love to know the secrets to how CELEBRITIES AVOID GOING TO JAIL- I know it pisses the average every day guy off when he can’t get a break in a tax evasion charge, but Wesley Snipes’ black ass is prolly on a beach somewhere, sipping martinis-after he was arrested on federal tax evasion charges. This idiot is 44 years old and should know better, after being blessed with a long and prosperous career; the feds indicted this fool and he turned himself in about 2 months later. He set successful black men back 20 years by fraudulently claiming tax refunds that were around $12 million. Sheesh! But…is Wesley Snipes somewhere in a South Carolina prison fighting 400 lb. inmates for his virginity? No. Why? Because he’s a celebrity!

I guess I will never understand the ladies’ undying support for CHRIS BROWN. I know the dude can sing and dance, but damn! When the story broke about his fight with his girlfriend Rihanna, I actually predicted that they’d be back together-for several reasons. The first was that the world is filled with many many many morons. The second is that they are both young, and young people are the ones most likely to put up with that type of nonsense. And the third reason was the shocking support of his female fans. It was fact that she had been beaten; it wasn’t a rumor, or some practical joke. The man had turned himself in for the crime. But, much to my disappointment, all I heard from females seemed to be support for him. Things like “He ain’t do it” or “He wouldn’t do something like that” made me realize how naïve and fickle fans can be. Females virtually unanimously admitted that they would be willing to date him if Rihanna were to leave him. Wow. I guess that’s how it can be when you are an attractive young man with a very strong female fan base. The ladies will be willing to let you uppercut the shit outta them at the family picnic…as long as you’re cute, and can sing and dance. Must be nice to be a celebrity.
Battered Women all over the world were already hailing Rihanna as a role model. People were saying that she would stand up for all battered women around and show them that they too can walk away from abuse. I guess they’re feeling mighty stupid, because not even a month later-it was confirmed that they were back together and trying to work things out. Perhaps they should have checked to see where she stood on the situation! (shaking my head)
I think I’ll pass on being a celebrity. I’ve always loved my privacy and I fear it would be too great of a transition for me to go from reticent artist-to superstar icon, who literally has to run from the paparazzi and reporters blocking my way. I’ll just take the wealth and the many lessons I’ve learned in this thing we call life and say that it would appear that the almighty dollar trumps everything and keeps celebs from rotting behind bars…no matter how much they fuck up!
